When a tooth is broken, often a patient will need a crown or bridge to cover the damaged tooth.  In some instances, a large cavity is formed in the tooth from decay and the tooth can be too brittle to hold a filling so the tooth will also need to be covered with a crown to prevent further chipping and breaking of the enamal.

 

Bridges can be a great way to replace missing teeth, the bridge is placed on the adjacent teeth with a replacement crown in between. The bridge provides strength and durability because the entire bridge is fused together with the replacement tooth in the middle.
